STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The members of the MIT Tango Club are students and others who wish to share their enthusiasm for the art and culture of Argentine Tango. The purpose of the Club is to provide the MIT community with opportunities to learn and to practice Argentine Tango through instruction, guided practice, and social dancing. It is also our aim to introduce Argentine Tango to those who have never had an opportunity to encounter the world of Tango, but may discover that they appreciate and wish to participate in it.
An important role for the MITATC is to promote Argentine Tango to a student population which otherwise might not be able to afford participation in the Argentine Tango culture, due to the relatively high prices that can be associated with instruction of the dance.
In order to serve the MIT community in a way that will benefit a broad student population, we will do our best to build ties with other organizations which may have complementary goals (other dance groups, MIT International Film Series and organizations focused on the appreciation of Argentine culture).
